Hardening 840-870 Quneching Oil Tempering 150-200 Brinell Rockwell Hardness 62-64 En 353 steel has carbon content of 0.17% and the most common form of steel as it’s provides material properties that are acceptable for many automobile applications such as heavy duty gear, shaft, pinion, cam shafts, gudgeon pins [1,8]. It is neither externally brittle nor ductile due to its lower carbon content and lower hardness. As the carbon content increases, the metal becomes harder and stronger.

En1a Leaded Steel are low carbon free cutting engineering mild steels. It has additional sulfur and lead added so as to enable easy machining. They are most suitable and used mainly in automatic and CNC machines in bright form. It is also used extensively in automatic screw machines / traub machines for manufacturing parts requiring considerable machining and close tolerances. It gives superior finish. One of the major used is to make hydraulic pipe fittings.
The addition of lead plus the high sulfur and phosphorous levels form a lubricating effect. This results in extremely improved machinability with little affect on the mechanical properties.
