409 SS
Our inventory now includes Alloy 409 (UNS S40900) in sheet, sheet coil, plate, round bar, processed flat bar and tubular products.
Alloy 409 is a general purpose, chromium, titanium stabilized, ferritic stainless steel whose primary application is automotive exhaust systems. It contains 11% chromium which is the minimum amount for the formation of the passive surface film which gives stainless steels their corrosion resistance. It combines good elevated temperature corrosion resistance with medium strength, good formability, and overall cost. Alloy 409 resists corrosion strongly compared to carbon steel and is used as an alternative to carbon steel in mildly challenging environments where its high resistance to corrosion and high temperature oxidation gives an advantage. It is commonly used in applications where appearance is a secondary quality to mechanical properties and corrosion resistance.

416 SS
Our inventory now includes Alloy 416 (UNS S41600) in plate and round bar products.
Alloy 416 is a martensitic, free-machining, chromium steel alloy that is generally considered to be the first free-machining stainless steel. It has the highest machinability of any stainless steel at about 85% of that of a free-machining carbon steel. Martensitic stainless steels were designed to be hardenable by heat treatment and also corrosion resistant. Although Alloy 416 and other martensitic stainless steels are not as resistant as austenitic or ferritic stainless, it still demonstrates good corrosion and oxidation resistance plus high strength in the hardened and tempered condition. Alloy 416HT is easily machined, is always magnetic, and has low frictional properties that reduce galling and seizing.

416HT SS
Our inventory now includes Alloy 416HT (UNS S41600) in sheet, sheet coil, plate, round bar, processed flat bar and tubular products.
Type 416HT Stainless Steel is a stainless steel which is martensitic and has been hardened by heat treatment to higher strength and hardness levels. It has much better machining properties than the austenitic grades, but lower corrosion resistance. It has the highest machinability of any stainless steel at about 85% of that of a free-machining carbon steel. Martensitic stainless steels were designed to be hardenable by heat treatment and also corrosion resistant. Although Alloy 416HT and other martensitic stainless steels are not as resistant as austenitic or ferritic stainless, it still demonstrates good corrosion and oxidation resistance plus high strength in the hardened and tempered condition. Alloy 416HT is easily machined, is always magnetic, and has low frictional properties that reduce galling and seizing.

420 SS
Our inventory now includes Alloy 420 (UNS S42000) in sheet, sheet coil, plate, round bar, processed flat bar and tubular products.
Alloy 420 is a hardenable, martensitic stainless steel that is a modification of Alloy 410. Similar to 410, it contains a minimum of 12% chromium, just sufficient enough to give corrosion resistant properties. Alloy 420 has higher carbon content than Alloy 410 which is designed to optimize strength and hardness characteristics. It has good ductility it the annealed condition but is capable of being hardened up to Rockwell hardness 50 HRC, the highest hardness of the 12% chromium grades. Due to its hardening properties, Alloy 420 is not often welded, although it is possible. Martensitic stainless steels are designed for high hardness and sometimes other properties are to some degree compromised. Corrosion resistance is lower than the common austenitic grades and their useful operating range is limited by their loss of ductility at sub-zero temperatures and loss of strength by over-tempering at elevated temperatures. Its best corrosion resistance is achieved when the metal is hardened and surface ground or polished.

430 SS
Our inventory now includes Alloy 430 (UNS S43000) in sheet, sheet coil, plate, round bar, processed flat bar and tubular products.
Grade 430 is a ferritic, straight chromium, non-hardenable grade, combining good corrosion resistance and formability characteristics with useful mechanical properties. Its ability to resist nitric acid attack permits its use in specific chemical applications but automotive trim and appliance components represents its largest fields of application.
Grade 430F is the free-machining version of this grade, available in bar form for use in automatic screw machines. Grade 434 is the molybdenum bearing version of Grade 430 and has the same useful combination of properties. Its molybdenum addition improves corrosion resistance.
These properties for 430 are specified for flat rolled product (plate, sheet and coil) in ASTM A240/A240M. Similar but not necessarily identical properties are specified for other products such as forgings and bar in their respective specifications. Properties of Grade 430F are specified for bar in ASTM A582.

440C SS
Our inventory now includes Alloy 440C (UNS S44000) in sheet, sheet coil, plate, round bar, processed flat bar and tubular products.
Stainless steels are high-alloy steels which have high corrosion resistance compared to other steels due to the presence of large amounts of chromium. Based on their crystalline structure, they are divided into three types such as ferritic, austenitic, and martensitic steels. Another group of stainless steels are precipitation-hardened steels. They are a combination of martensitic and austenitic steels.
Grade 440C stainless steel is a high carbon martensitic stainless steel. It has high strength, moderate corrosion resistance, and good hardness and wear resistance. Grade 440C is capable of attaining, after heat treatment, the highest strength, hardness and wear resistance of all the stainless alloys. Its very high carbon content is responsible for these characteristics, which make 440C particularly suited to such applications as ball bearings and valve parts.
